Joe the Plumber is a joke.He has lied most of the time, made sure that he got Obama's attention at a campaign walk and wanted his 15 minutes of shameless and self serving fame that will do more harm to McCain campaign than Obama's. As David Gurgen of CNN said, there seems to be a contest amongst McCain campaign staffers as who will get the prize for being the most stupid camaign strategist in this election!!

Joe the Plummer is a idiot. He is being used by the Mccain Campaign. I want to know why arent there any discussions of Todd and Sarah Palin ties to the Alaskan Independent Party, which Todd Palin was a member of and his wife supported them. I mean come on those two  are the real terrorist. Mccain has lost all my respect he is not a maverick he is nothing more than a grumpy old man who way past his glory days. I mean come on he dosen't know squat about the economy he said that on national T.V. I believe the republicans voting for Mccain are blinding themselves they would rather see the country go deeper into self destruction than to elect an african american.  Ladies and gentleman we are witnessing the fall of America. God help us.

Olbermann couldn't be more right. This guy is willing to say just about anything so he could milk his 15 min. of fame to the last drop. When the campaign is over the DNC should make a deal with him to get his face as their logo because he does look like a real jackass!

Joe the plumber is simply an opportunistic parasite who mumbles, fumbles and rambles as if there is nothing but air between his ears.  And he wants to be a politician, author and country music star.

Gone are the days when kids like Joe add fireman and policeman to their "wannabe" lists.

jt plumber is a leach on mccains tails. he simply is using mccains campaign to get what ever money he can get. joe, is some one who i reminds me of david duke. his remarks about isreal was so far fetched and david-esk, its scary to even hear that people like joe are still around. beware america of people like joe, he uses god to do the work of the devil. the devils greatest trick was deception. joe is trying that same deception. joe is simply money hungry because he owes, and using mccain is his golden egg. but that again mccain should be use to be used, look at palin, she is using mccain to spring herself into 2012. as soon as this election is finished, john mccain will be past-tense to palin. she couldnt have gotten noticed with out mccain, and she lobbied hard to be picked for vp. good judgement mccain!!!!! you deserve what ever happens and whoever uses you, you didnt put country first like you said you would. but i guess its just words for you and not action.

as a fellow tradesman to joe the plumber i do understand certain things about plumbers.  in the trades we say about plumbers, " they know two things, sh*t runs down hill and payday is on friday.  since joe is apparently no longer at work, he may remember the former, (he spews enough of it) with the latter no longer applicable.   ---seriously, this guy is an opportunist only out to make a buck.  we'll watch him crash and burn and be glad it's not us.

Wow, the hatred and disgust Keith Olbermann vents towards a fellow American citizen is disgusting to me, and frankly, because I do not agree with Obama's economic policies, I take personal offense to the degrading things you said about Joe the Plumber. You might as well have been saying them about me or the half of the nation who will be voting against your annointed one, according to the polls. Obviously, MSNBC doesn't care if it offends American citizens like me, so since my business isn't important to you, you don't have to worry about ever having me watch a broadcast again. Tell that to your advertisers.

You can think what you want about Joe the Plumber, but I've never seen an average American citizen investigated and attacked by so much of the media, just for simply asking a question that Obama fumbled when he answered.

It's actually kinda scary to me, and a sign of things to come if Obama is elected.  There can be no debate, no discussion, no opposing viewpoints.  Anybody that doesn't drink the Obama Kool Aid must be destroyed.

However I must admit, if there is anybody more qualified to know what a fool looks like than Olbermann, I don't know who that could be, since he has to look in the mirror everyday.

They just verified his story to be all LIES!!!!Now he is pandering to a sympathetic audience cause that mean old left wing media is picking on him. I'm sure he was a McCain/Republican plant that they thought could embarass Obama the day before the debate and it has backfired on them big time!!!

I would agree with you except for one thing, he's not average.  How many average americans have a publicist and a lawyer?  Do you?  For all we know he's probably getting his wardrobe paid by the McCain team and his $12,000 back taxes.  As for him being attacked, well hey he asked for it when he put himself in the limelight.  It was all fixed by the McCain crew when he approached Obama.  You could see it.  As for Obama's reply to the plumber man I have no idea what you were watching, but it wasn't the answer given to the plumber.  Obama answered the plumber direct and succintly.  He didn't attack the plumber, as was claimed my McShame, but explained how the plan would work on the plumber's "business", which we know was a "lie".  It was fix and it is so obvious.  The only ones who didn't see it are those with befuddled minds such as yours.  It is sad actually that we are subjected to such disgraceful tactics of fear, hate, and deception through hypocrisy.  As for your statment on fools we all are fools once in a while, but what you missed is the foolish way this guy is being put out and making himself out as America's last hope of decency.  Liars are not decent and he has lied since day one when he got caught in the fix.  As he continues to speak out of the side of his mouth we should cringe if this is America's last hope for decency.

An Average American Citizen who lied about his business, his income, his just about anything he presented himself as to Sen. Obama.

Its amazing how I am reading the defense of 'JTP' and his lies and ignorance, Sarah Paling's ethics violations, theft of money from the taxpayers of Alaska and her attempt to doctor expense reports on her kids travel.

Her children flew on commercial airlines and stayed in their own rooms at taxpayer expense; the President's family flies WITH him on Air Force One - no extra airfares. they stay in hotels paid for by the taxpayers for safety and expedience - Secret Service protection, etc.  I have no problem with either party when they are President and they travel with family, its a whole different set of issues and security.  Gov. Palin's actions, not so much.

And to make it clear to some who have been throwing out Sen. Obama's flight to Hawaii and some kind of quid pro quo.  He didn't fly their at taxpayer expense.  Pretty simple.

Back to JTP.  Just add parading him out as another bone head stunt by the RNC.  Like so many decisions by the RNC and/or McCain, its unbelievably lame.

I see that you guys have bought into the media's spin on Joe the Plumber.  What lies did Joe tell?  He said he was thinking about buying the plumbing business that he worked for, and if he did, his income would be over $250K and under your tax plan, I would pay more in taxes, right?

From that question, Obama exposes himself as a marxist with his "Spread the Wealth" comment.  So this could have been the end of the story for Joe, but instead the media set out to destroy Joe because he dared to ask a question of Lord Barack that they didn't like.

The story was Obama's answer, not Joe's back taxes or plumbing license.

I know here in Ohio, there is an investigation under way, investigating various county and state officials that used government data bases to feed the media personal and private information to aid them in their efforts to discredit Joe the Plumber.

Who cares if Joe is a satan worshipper who sacrifices kittens?  Seriously?  Joe's background and personal life have nothing to do with the fact that Lord Barack stated, "I want to spread the wealth".

All the efforts by the media to discredit Joe are nothing more than an effort to distract attention away from Lord Barack's answer to his question.

And I also feel it is intended as a warning to others.......don't think you can ask Lord Barack a tough question and get away with it.  We will destroy you if you dare ask a tough question.

Obviously you did not listen to Obama's response. He was not impolite, angry. He explained his position very clearly. It's a shame that your bias is clouding your comments. (This is response to your earlier comment)

As far as media scrutiny goes, it goes with public exposure which Joe asked for. You obviously would like to see one side of the coin.

There are so many things wrong with JTP.  First of all, the day after the debate he was whining to the media that he wanted to be left alone.  John McCain goes on tv apologizing to JTP for bringing him into the media spotlight realizing that he didn't ask for all the attention. Now the lying moron, who owes back taxes, lies about his income and is not really a plumber is using this to propell a career in country music and politics.
The very idea that the McCain campaign is still relying on this fool and keeps bringing him up in stump speeches is proof that McCain and Palin have not an ounce of wits about them.  The three of them deserve each other, but this country deserves better.

Joe the Plumber probably has ties to William Ayers.

It's true!  Just as true as Obama's ties.

Again...Joe didn't lie about anything, and he is a plumber.  In Ohio, there is no license required for residential work.  He has worked in residential plumbing for 25 years....and suddenly he's not a plumber?

He never said he made $250K, he plainly stated he was thinking about buying the business he worked for and if he did........how is that a lie?

Further more...I did listen to Obama's answer...he plainly stated that his intentions are to take from those of us who he feels have too much, and give it to those who he feels don't have enough.  Some how this is fairness?

So because I once put everything I owned on the line and at risk, to start a business which has turned out to be successful, Obama thinks it's right to take some of my money and give it somebody else.........and the thing that bugs me the most is.....when Obama gives them my money....he won't be saying....Ole Mike here did good so here is some of Mike's money....nooo...he will be handing them my money and saying....here..this is from Barack.

So I never said your Lord Barack was impolite or rude.  He was actually quite frank and open with his response, exposing his intentions plainly.

                            Mike -

Actually Joe did lie.  He claimed he was seriously thinking about buying the business when in fact, according to the owner of the business, he never intended on buying the business.  He told Obama that the business does or is expected to make around $250,000/yr... when in fact the owner said that is just "not true!"  Who should the media and public believe?

On another comment you made about the media scrutiny... I guess it hasn't dawned on you yet that Joe doesn't bother to tell the media that the McCain campaign lies a lot about him?  I watched Joe on Fox News, and Hannity said (in front of Joe!) as he introduced him, that Obama went up to Joe when he was on his own property with his son while throwing around a football.... Joe didn't correct Hannity... why not?  I watched Joe on Mike Huckabee on Fox... he didn't have the story straight either, and Joe didn't correct him....why not?

John McCain brought "Joe" into the entire mix during the 3rd and final debate, thinking he was going to "get over" on Obama.  As a result, if anyone is truly a liar, it's John McCain, who just the other day still said that Barack Obama went up to Joe's HOUSE... and knocked on his door.  Huh?  That's a blatant lie.  He also says that Joe was just standing in his driveway throwing around a football with his son when Obama walked up to him... another blatant lie.  He also likes to say that Obama walked UP TO JOE in the crowd... yet another blatant lie.  The fact is that Joe was in the crowd, not near his house/on his property while Obama was in the neighborhood speaking to local residents and Joe asked a question loudly and Obama walked up to him and gave him the answer.

Joe is a plumber and Joe doesn't have a license to work commercially.  Last time I looked, Republicans love people who pay their taxes... that ain't Joe.

As I write this, Nightly News is showing McCain and Joe at a rally today...

McCain:  T"his man speaks for millions of small business owners all around this country."

What?  Joe doesn't own any business...

Joe's a sleazy opportunist who know little to nothing about politics.. domestic or foreign!

McCain, win or lose has turned into one of the sleaziest politicians in recent history, or perhaps ANY American history... he uses people for self gain, and is using Joe as a SYMBOL....................for business owners!

                            Isn't that just amazing?

What I find amazing, is how you have this hatred for Joe the Plumber, and are willing to completely over look Obama's answer to Joe's question.

Am I to understand that you are ok with the marxist answer that Obama gave to Joe's question?

You see, I am a small business owner.  I have 187 employees that depend on this business to feed their families.  I really resent Obama telling me I don't pay enough taxes, when if I add all the layers of government together, over half of what I gross is paid out in some kind of tax or spent covering my ass over some government mandate.  Can I survive another 3% increase on the federal level?  It probably won't put me out of business.....but it certainly doesn't help either.......I am drowning in taxes now.  Federal, Social Security, Unemployment, State, County, City.....not to mention Health Care and Disability expenses which keep going up and up.

I don't see Obama as being good for our country....you may disagree....but it scares me to see an average american citizen, turned inside out and up side down, because he asked a question of a political candidate that the media didn't like the candidate's answer too.  I swear, all the attacks on Joe....from the way I see it....was intended to distract people's attention away from Obama's answer.  An average american citizen, totally trashed by the media, in an attempt to distract people from Obama's answer.

Does it really matter if Joe has paid his taxes?  Does it change anything that he doesn't have a plumbing license?  Seriously?  Does any of that have any effect what so ever on the fact that Obama revealed that he want to "Spread The Wealth"?  Even if everything about Joe is a lie.....does that change what Obama said he wants to do?

To me, nothing about Joe's past or present has any effect on the way Obama answered his question.

You must not have seen Obama's answer.  You also don't seem to understand that it is McCain who thrust this hapless idiot, Sam the non-plumber into the limelight.  Obama gave him a respectable answer to Joe/Sam's blatant LIE.  Had Joe/Sam told the truth, he would have learned the real truth, that Obama's tax plan will benefit Joe/Sam far more than McCain.  Secondly, the media investigates anyone who is made a public figure in a national debate, which was what McCain did to him.  Thirdly, read a bit of Sarah Palin's interview on how she "spreads the wealth" in Alaska.  The citizens of Alaska receive a windfall profits tax from the oil company.  She is quoted as saying "We like to share the wealth in Alaska".  And YES it matters that the guy pays his taxes.   The discussion is about TAXES, remember?  So if he doesn't pay them, he has no right to complain about taxes he won't have to pay under Obama.  The whole "man" is a myth.  The rest of us do our fair share and that money goes to our military, our schools, our infrastructure, and to help provide the services that we all demand.

I saw Obama's answer...the entire scene is posted all over you-tube.

Hold on to your bias if you like......make the comparison to Alaska's decision to share the oil revenue with their citizens....a decision that was made over 30 years ago while Palin was in grade school....to Obama stating that he feels it's his responsibility to take from those who have and give it to those who don't.  Hate Joe the Plumber all you want...call him names...believe he isn't a real plumber and disregard the fact he has worked as a plumber for the past 25 years......rationalize it how ever you want to suit your agenda.

But none of it changes the fact that Joe the Plumber has had his personal life exposed for the world to see, all because he asked a question.  Even if Joe really wasn't considering buying the plumbing business he has worked for the past 25 years.......it doesn't change Obama's answer.....he wants to "Spread The Wealth".

                                  Mike, with due respect...

The problem as I see it is that you asked questions and I gave you answers. That wasn't good enough for you...so you took another turn and asked DIFFERENT questions.  Don't deflect, deny, divide, defend.

I don't think or believe that Obama is a Marxist so I can't answer that question.

Joe is not a business owner so he can't possibly represent you.. He can't be a true, genuine or authentic symbol for business owners like you.  It IS what it IS and "It's" a farce...

I'm afraid you are indulging yourself with "projection" when you say to Ellen, above, "Hold on to your bias if you like..."  as in, "Hello Kettle?  It's the POT calling."

                                                Marni

I believe that JTP was planted by the McPalin camp.  They like to put things out there and have the voters connect the dots..well here goes.

JTP approached Obama, told him one lie after another, knew that Obama would be sympathetic to his plight and spend time giving him an answer.  After all, Obama had to show Joe how the Obama plan would help Joe, not make his life harder.

Then right after that..the debate.  Who brought up JTP at the debate?  Johnny boy.  Then of course later McCain lied about it, and said Obama brought up JTP at the debate.  He blamed all the attention that JTP was getting on Obama and said Obama  "brought on all this media attention" (that Joe didn't seem upset over) on poor old Joe, the new symbol of the average, everyday, middle class American.

Then the truth comes out.  Joe's not really a licensed plumber, doesn't make all that much money, is not buying a business, is behind in his taxes..etc.  But McPalin has not let it drop.  They planted this guy, and they are not going to let him fade away, they are going to get their money's worth. They get his name out there day after day.  Everyone knows JTP.  We are all SICK TO DEATH of JTP.  So just when everyone is getting disgusted with him, time for the next 'dot".

So now they dress JTP up (new duds, jeans and a shirt that your "average American" everyday Joe would wear)..put him on a stage with Sarah the sleaze slinger, and let him do the dirty work.  The McPalin camp then puts some other guy up there to talk to JTP and accuse Obama of more ridiculous crap, and JTP just has to agree with him...like his opinion should now matter to everyone.

Well they created their own celebrity..someone they thought middle class America could relate to, and they just kept saying his name over and over.  I have seen other rallies where Johnny's camp has definitely planted people in the audience.  That's why McCain likes the Town Hall settings..he can plant people to say the things that he doesn't want to.  There was once a young woman that stood up and said she was 18, voting for the first time and so happy that John was running because she was "afraid of Obama".  Then John just shakes his head like he understands her fear, but he hasn't had to say anything. The trouble is, these people are very poor actors, and so is John. They are all bad actors..no wonder Cindy McCain just stands in the background in her BRIGHT RED clothes...they put her at the podium once and her act was pathetic.  No oscars for that crew.

JTP never minded or looked surprised by the attention he got from the media.  He was out there in his front yard, hands in his pockets, loving every minute.  The fact that he is now looking to run for congress (good luck with that Joe), write a book (and that) and sing...OK now we hear that Joe just happens to have a good voice.  So I've connected the dots and come up with some more dishonesty and sleaze in the McPalin camp. What a surprise. I guess they realize that their candidates CAN'T win with honesty, and honor seems to have flown out the window and been replaced by the obsession to win at any cost.  Do you think that if McCain loses, that he is going to be gracious about it?  Why in the world would he be outside on Election night while everyone is inside?  What is that?  Because he can't face defeat?  It's not easy being defeated after such a fight, but knowing how to take defeat, congratulate you opponent and move on is something I guess John never learned.  He WANTS this and will not like being told "NO" by the American public. No one LIKES to lose. McCain is used to getting what he wants, and this is costing him a lot. Not the money, but respect.  The Republican's that once admired him and thought him a good and honorable man, not so much anymore.  Sarah is ready to jump ship, she has her own agenda.  I hate to say we won't see the end of her.

The McPalin camp has played so dirty.  If they didn't, maybe more people would still respect McCain.  As it is, I've lost total respect for him..I thank him for his service and my heart goes out to any person who was a POW.  But, this was a nasty campaign and  I wish they would put the campfires out and go home.  Hopefully, the voters can help them with that.

As I was listening to the great (okay average) old sports card trader Olbermann hammer Joe the plumber. I found myself agreeing with KO. I agreed that Joe really doesn't have a clue to talk about presidential issues. Joe does not take the time (as KO's writers do) to read up on those issues and spew forth his new found knowledge to a tele-promoter.

Joe is finding his 15 minutes of fame and may make some money on the deal. Heaven forbid he makes money on politics, I have never seen that happen (can you feel my sarcasm?)!

While listening to KO, I began asking myself, why does KO care about what an average Joe thinks (no pun intended)? Why does it drive him crazy as it does (makes me laugh when KO gets that look in his eye)? Why does he spend half his entertainment (not news) hour skewing this man?

Then, I realized, KO is doing this because he himself created the phenom! Joe would have faded away, if KO would have let the dog lie. Talking about him night after night he builds Joe up to be this wise Republican savior. Now, KO must back pedal and hit Joe at every turn, instead of being a real reporter and going after the real issues of this election (could this be because KO is incapable of being a real reporter?). Come to think about it, maybe Joe is KO and KO is Joe?!? They both talk about absolutely nothing that has anything to do with the issues. Both weave a tale of lies by pulling words from what this person said to make up a false comment about that person. He takes quotes from many answers to make up stories as they go. Hmm, I guess KO and Joe are the same person! You know, I have never seen both of them in the same place at the same time!?!

Joe is just like 99% of us, he is not well versed in all aspects of presidential issues. He does not have dozens of writers and political advisers that are readily available to him (as is to the candidates and KO). He does not sit through hours of briefings going over every possible question that may be thrown at him during an impromptu interview. Could KO answer those same questions after being 5 minutes into his 15 minutes of fame or would the Olbermann talk out of his ars like his nemesis Joe?

Maybe Keith should stick to the candidates and ask them REAL questions about their past affiliations, if they are actually a citizen of the US or Kenya, are they really a Marxists or just a big dumbie? I guess that is why he doesn’t ask those tough questions, it is beyond his capability as a reporter!

your special comments are always right on the money. i have a true story ,here in pennsylvania that would bring to light ,the frustration and insult we have lived with for years .  in short while my son attended highschool here in central pa. a school teacher tom rocco, called on my son to stand up in class, he directed the question, roland jr. tell the class who your dad is voting for this election. my son who being proud of his dad, answered al gore. teacher rocco then began to hold his stomach an laugh out loud at my son, then replying back to him, roland jr. do you know that the only people who are voting for gore is people on welfare, and minoritys. my son feeling degraded and shamed sat back down and watched as his class began to laugh at him. my son a senior , came home and told me what had happend. the next day i contacted the principal, and explained that i wanted a meeting with this teacher rocco. the principal there would be no meeting between rocco and myself ,  and explained how he take care of this. being upset i explained if something wasnt done i would contact jessie jackson, and  jack murtha and ask them to come here to our school and bring rocco to at least say he was sorry to my son in front of his class. with roccos dad on the school board , and with the mind set of our public school, nothing was done. if i had a chance to tell my story to the country , i could get a feeling of relief,  also by the way i am not a college graduate, but i do own two businesses, i do make more money than mr. rocco the teacher, and  retired teacher and school board member father rocco. keith, great job on nsmbc.

Surely the Bush Administration needs to be punished in the woodshed, but I fear that the America electorate will only PUNISH ITSELF on Nov 4th by a MAJOR OVER-REACTION.

Brian, Since you asked for here are the responses:

                                                            1) A President and Congress that will want to dramatically raise taxes $2-4 Trillion to

This is bunch of baloney - go to nonpartisan site Tax Policy Center for truth

                                                            2) Pay for a major new welfare state for 40% of US through

This is another baloney. Obama is not going to reduce taxes for those who don't pay taxes. This is republican propaganda. These people didn't pay income taxes under Bush and they won't pay them now either. Only additional people that won't pay income taxes are retirees (living on SS unlike you probably) that make less than 50K. Those who do not pay income taxes but do pay payroll taxes (SS, medicare) but make less than 50K will see some reduction in taxes so that they can afford to buy groceris and pay electric bills.

                                                            3) Extremely expensive new goverment health care programs like in Europe

Again, a republican propaganda. Obama has said that he will not require people who get there health care via employers will not have to change their coverage. He said he will make the system efficient so that emploee and employer contributions will come down by $2500. Those who are not covered by a HC plan or can't afford one (may be some of the family members are not covered), will have the same option as US senators and representatives have via a large group. Isn't tha a novel idea - these people deserve a similar plan because guess what we taxpayers are paying for these senators etc. coverage.

                                                            4) New government education programs like in Chicago

Yes, middle income and poor families deserve to send their children to colleges also - they are not fat cats like wall street guys who can afford to send their kids to ivy schools. And yes, head start is a great program (in fact started by Nixon if I am not mistaken) and gives chance to under privileged families to have their kids have good education.

                                                            5) Major cuts in defense spending

We have enough arsenal to destroy world 100 times over!! Nobody is going to raise their finger on us.

                                                            6) New taxes for 401(k)s, capital gains, death taxes, payroll taxes that would

Again go to Tax Policy Center and learn the truth.

                                                            7) Drive businesses to offshore

In fact the opposite!! He has promised to give tax breaks to companies that will bring every offshore job they currently have into US. He will not impose any capital gains tax on startups so that they can grow bigger and hire more people.

                                                            8) Reduced employment due to higher business costs

This is a very general statement. Yes, if CEOs, wall street  took less salary, bonuses (even when their companies tank), it will result in higher employment.

                                                            9) Surrender around the world as a military power to be more like Europe

Bogus statement. As before we are the only super power and Obama will make sure that we remain so. He will get rid of $500 hammers and unnecessary expenditures that do not make us stronger.

                                                            10) Invite rough nations and leaders to test/attack America or America interests and allies around the world

Nonsense. No country in the world would have guts to attack us. We poke our nose into countries that we have no business doing so (like Iraq war).

                                                            11) Loss of the war on terror

                                                            See above.

                                                            12) negotiations, increased weakness, and capitulation with countries like Iran, N. Korea, and Russia

Yes, we do need sensible govt. that will talk to rogue countries provided they agree to tough preconditions and bend their backs with tough sanctions. War or similar actions should be a last resort not first. Look where war mongering has taken us - and if we continue on that path we will be a third world country just like them.

                                                            13) new social engineering laws and Supreme Court Justices for

                                                            14) Dramatically increased abortions

                                                            15) Dramatically increased gay marriages

Govt. has no business to get into bedrooms and choices of people.
